JoomlaExtension's Media MP3 Player Version 1.15 is now available. Version 1.15 sees the addition of a number of enhancements and bugfixes.

• ADDED: additional access control mechanism based on user's group id. Now you are able to select who should be able to see the media player tab.
• FIXED: conflict between mootools, jquery and the SWFObject that adds the media player to the web page.
  
• FIXED: description div not appearing when "Launch Player In New Window" option not enabled.
• REMOVED: hardcoded field sizes from upload form which may have affected some site template rendering.
• ADDED: additional style elements to css file to render upload form elements.
• ADDED: code to order playlists with latest uploads appearing at the top of the list.

New Features added to JoomlaExtensions' Media MP3 Player 

Administrator Control:

The administrator may now perform actions on individual user's mp3 files straight from the user administration section of comprofiler (components->Community Builder->User Management). click here for image.

MP3 Download:

The mp3 download feature if enabled provides you with an option when uploading new mp3 files to tag them as downloadable. If a file has been tagged as downloadable a small icon appears beside the mp3 file's title in the player's playlist as illustrated below:

Once a file has been tagged as downloadable you cannot reverse it. Changing the mp3 download setting to "disallow" downloads merely removes the "Allow download ?" checkbox from the upload form (item 2 in the image below).

Link To External MP3 Files

The link to external mp3 files feature if enabled provides you with an additional field (item 1 in image above) where you can enter the complete url to the mp3 file.
The url must begin with "http://" and end with ".mp3" otherwise the upload will fail.

This feature can be disabled globally by setting the setting the "External Music Source" and "External Music Override" variables to "No" in Community Builder's Tab Manager.

If "External Music Override" is set to "Yes" this will enable individual users to either disable or enable this feature for themselves.

If you elect to link to external mpe files you cannot elect to "Allow Download" of this file.

Launch Player in New Window

The launch player in new window feature provide the user with a means of having the player open at all times. So even if a user closes their main browser window they can continue to play songs from the playlist. This is an excellent way of running background music.

As with the external mp3 files the launch player in new window feature is controlled by 2 configuration variables ("Launch in own window" and "Launch in own window override"). Setting both of these variables to "No" will remove the associated link that's found just below the player as shown below.

Song Descriptions

The song description feature provides the user with the ability to add descriptions for each of their uploaded/linked mp3 files via the "submit new mp3 file" form
This feature is not controlled by any configuration variables so it is always available. If a user choses not to add a description they simply leave the appropriate text area blank.

Please Note: Existing playlists will not be updated to reflect these new features. This means that existing mp3 files will not have an associated description nor can they be tagged as downloadable. Editing of existing playlists will be possible with the next release; until then, users who wish to provide descriptions and tag existing mp3 files for download will have to delete their existing mp3s and reupload them.

Installation Instructions:

JoomlaExtensions Media MP3 Player is a standard plugin for Community Builder. As such it is installed as any other Community Builder plugin by navigating to components->Community Builder->Plugin Management and simply uploading  the attached zip file. Please observe all the generated output during the installation process. This can be used in the unlikely event that you encounter any problems installing our plugin.

Upgrade Instructions: 

JoomlaExtensions Media MP3 Player can be upgraded by:

• firstly deleting the existing plugin. In doing so none of the database tables are affected so you will not lose any of your plugin data. Furthermore we also back up all your profile playlists and mp3 files so that they can be reinstated once you install the latest version. 
  
• secondly by following the steps in the installation process to upload the latest version.

NB: You are always strongly encouraged to backup your data before performing any upgrade! So backup! backup! backup!
